Faces of Homelessness

Weisiger Theatre, Norton Center for the Arts

An exploration of the realities of homelessness beginning with an overview of dimensions and causes of this chronic social problem in our state from George Eklund, Director of Community Education at the Louisville Coalition for the Homeless, followed by the personal stories of two formerly homeless individuals from Louisville, Veronica Hardesty and Kenny Boyd, now a program specialist with at-risk youth in the Jefferson County Public Schools. The unique combination of personal stories and systemic analysis will provide an informative picture of both causes and solutions, including the Coalition's innovative proposals for addressing homelessness in Kentucky's largest city.

Content Advisory: The convocation will include personal narratives that refer to suicidal ideation, child abuse, family separation, drug addiction, and mental illness which may be distressing for some. This advisory is provided to foster an informed decision and is not intended to discourage attendance.
