So, first called to center stage, Phillip Phillips, Skylar Laine, Joshua Ledet and Elise Testone. If a contestant doesn’t make a connection with the fans early in the show their prospects are very limited on American Idol. Based on last nights performances, all four of these singers should have been sent to the next round without much fan fare. As it turns out Elise will spent another week in the bottom, this time it’s the fabled bottom three.
This evening the ladies competed for your votes. After last night I fully expected the judges to give nothing but rave reviews. Part way into the night they admitted to being soft on the men… ya think? They weren’t easy on the ladies and I discovered I’m still out of sync with them for the most part.
“This is…. America’s Most Wanted!” Oops, wrong show. In advance of the show tonight was the announcement that Jermaine Jones is off the show due to some unresolved warrants. I haven’t heard what the warrants were issued for but I’m sure that will come to light soon enough.
Erika Van Pelt is gone! The new hair style (quite nice i might add) wasn’t enough of a makeover to save her. It’s not really a surprise she is exiting early in the competition since all along she’s struggled with…
This is Billy Joel week, I don’t believe American Idol has done a Billy Joel week in the past. As a foot note here, I have considered trying out for “X-Factor” with a Billy Joel tune. It should be a great week to gauge how well the contestants adapt to big hits and make them their own. This is also a week where we may see far too many average (read karaoke) performances.
