Brian Cusato is Director of the Centre Learning Commons, Assistant Dean in Academic Affairs, and Professor of Psychology and Behavioral Neuroscience. He is an active member of Centre’s teaching faculty and has served in many administrative roles including Program Chair, Chair of the Division of Science and Mathematics, Associate Dean, Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs, Interim Vice President of Academic Affairs, and Dean of the College, and Special Assistant to the President. 

Cusato joined Centre’s faculty in 2006. He received a B.A. in psychology from Muhlenberg College, a M.A. from Bucknell University and a Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin.


Cusato’s scholarly interests concern best practices in student support services and the behavioral mechanisms of associative learning. He is an active researcher and his collaborations with students investigate adaptive specializations and the integration of biological, comparative, and evolutionary approaches to the study of learned behavior. Cusato’s research has been supported by the National Institutes of Health, and findings from his experiments have been published in numerous journals including  Animal Learning and Behavior,  Behavioral and Brain Sciences,  Behavioural Processes,  The International Journal of Comparative Psychology, and  Psychonomic Bulletin and Review.
